2011 has been an interesting showing year with the financial climate leaving many shows making a loss which
doesn't bode well for their continuation.
Our winter show with its new 2 day operation held at Stretcholt made a small profit which is fine as long as it
covers its costs. This we are going to keep to the 2 day Stretcholt arrangement for 2012.
Our summer show made a profit but considerably less than it is use to making even with cost cutting and the
area having its own jumps this year. Catering for the judges and stewards is something that we need to address
every year with these costs rocketing. We are know to look after our judges and stewards and don't want this to
change as other areas have been slated for their poor care and even abuse of those that give their time to make
it all possible.
We are in talks with pontispool about the surface in two of the ring that was not of good enough quality for the
show and the price we pay for the site.
The feedback we get generally is that the site works well and is liked although there are some issues, please
feedback to us you thoughts and suggestions.
The all day clear round jumping is not planned to be repeated but will keep the early morning session.
The show is not an easy event to run as now the largest one day horse show in the west country with the number
of classes, qualifiers and rings. This being the case it takes a lot of helpers to set up, take down let alone the man
power through the day. These people are wonderful and i would like to thank them very much for all their help.

Nov 2011
Hello everyone . Hope everyone is enjoying winter, as the Winter qualifiers have already started. We have been show jumping and not going too far, but New Year will bring on lots of showing and travelling further away. I am hoping to be going in hand showing with the youngsters soon though.
Lydia Stuart took her two ponies up to Area 6 and came back with a mountain of clears which is brilliant. She came 5th in the 143cm novice with Owenass Prince and also 4th in the open and 3rd in the restricted. With her new C Caerddaniel Thomas she came 1st Open M&M, which was fantastic - so well done.
More results from the Pleases. They took the Restricted championship with their Llanarth Diamante and took the breed Olympia qualifier with Tawbitts Mystic Major - so good luck at Olympia.
Results from Charlotte Alford are:
I have a few results. We travelled up to the heritage champs 2 compete in the semi-finals and also a few other classes with our new Highland Lochlands Prince Igor (Shrek).
Reset Sir Lancelot (Wheelbarrow) was 6th in his semi final so not 2 bad considering there were about 34 in the class.
Next up was my welsh section D Llanarth Old Fashion (fashion) produced by Sarah Parker (Challinor), he was a superstar continuing on from his 3rd at HOYS he qualified for Olympia once again which is just amazing :) very exciting and now Christmas can’t come faster we love him so much xxx
Next up was the breed qualifier for our new Highland Lochlands Prince Igor (Shrek) who is also produced by Sarah Parker (Challinor) he came a very amazing 2nd considering he is only 4 and is still a novice.
Reset Sir Lancealot (Wheelbarrow) just missed out again in his breed qualifier coming 3rd with it being a very very strong class.
We are now really looking forward to Olympia with Llanarth Old Fashion.
Here is news from Sharon Goodman - her boys sounds like they are doing fabulously:
Both Sam riding Rocky B and Toby riding ( Jenny Birts) Arf-a-Bob had a fabulous season.
Sam qualified for the RI 143cm Whp at 13a and was 7th at the Final in July, we were all over the moon as it was their first time jumping the RI track together . By this time of course the Hoys qualifiers were well underway. They were 4th at Derbyshire with the last pole down, 6th at Cheshire on a clear and 3rd in the Lord Leverhulme cup and then 1st and champ at NPS area 7 qualifying.
At the summer champs they had a fantastic time, they started by being 3rd in the PP 143, 3rd in the performance, and 3rd in the open. Then went through to the evening in the gold cup and having jumped a fantastic round moved up to overall 2nd. They had an 8th in the red division and finished off an amazing week being 3rd in the Desert Orchid.
Toby was also riding Bert for his first season and narrowly missed out qualifying for the RI as a 122Shp in both the pretty Polly and the open. He qualified Blue Riband shp for the champs and also champion of champion cradle stakes. They went to the champs really wanting to jump but doing a couple of SHP classes as well !! In the first class on our first day they were 2nd in the training stakes, followed by a 3rd in the pretty Polly cradles and 5th in the performance cradles! They continued on a roll with 2nd in the restricted SHP, 8th in the blue division cradles and finished the week with winning another training stakes class and the Blue division 122shp!!!
Bert has now gone to his new home as Tobz is out of cradles next year, we are just so glad to have had a year with him and thank Jenny for letting us have him.
So finally - Remember everyone to get your points in. The sheets are on the website. Well done to everyone - sounds like you have been doing very well I am sure it will continue throughout the season.

Hello everyone. I am at last here!!!
Hope everyone is okay, and well done to everyone at HOYs. Specially well done to Millie Wonnacott for winning the showing world’s Young Show Rider Personality of the year.
Well after my accident and much time in hospital, I am finally back. I am so sorry I did not put all your names in here for Hoys but well done to everyone who qualified . A massive congrats must go to Louise Edgar for coming 2nd in the Individual Young Judges, what a fantastic achievement. I do hope that next year I will make the Summer Champs and be able to get people who want to do the team together!!! I also want to say well done to the Premier League Whp team for getting that fourth for the area – well done.
As a ‘get well soon’ present (as I won’t be able to ride my inter wh next year in qualifiers - it is a long way down!!!) ,my dad brought me two ponies from Fayre Oakes. I am very lucky. I have two Welsh section B’s Borderhill William who is a yearling and Leucarum Padgent who is 6 months old. After my accident mum sold our int sh Greylands Alley Cat as she is so big and I can’t ride for a while so didn’t make any sense keeping her. It’s sad that she’s gone and I hope the new owners have as much success and happiness as I did.
Results here we go:
Charlotte Goord has been doing very well with her 153cm INDIANAPOLIS
BSPS champs
6th in the Gold Cup

Towan Barnaby Rudge has had the most fantastic year, he won the HP hack, the Best trained to music and the Open hack at Equifest, he was also 2nd in the sidesaddle!
He then qualified for the Cherif finals for 2012 at Dorchester county show in September. Then we set off to the Cherif Championships, it was the best show ever! He was the highest placed Concours sidesaddle, he won and was champion amateur points throughout the year, and was 6th in his final class B! I came home with 5 trophies and 2 sashes (didn’t realise the old man could still do it!) He won a trophy for being the oldest horse competing at the final!!
My large intermediate show riding type won the PBA up at Equifest which was super!
Well done must go to Molly Simpson and Wendy Bridges with Holmedown Chicago at HOYS coming 2nd in the new highland class which is brilliant absolutely fantastic after qualifying at Moreton in the Marsh.
Sarah Please took three ponies up to HOYs which went very well by the sounds of it. Treowen Ranger and Alice Please who qualified at Dunster came 5th in the 122cm SHP which is very good. Ballinsoe Boy and Jessica came 6th in 143cm WHP with one very unfortunate pole at the last.
Congratulations also must go to Millie Wonnacott coming 2nd in the 133cm WHP on My Blue Eyed Boy II which is fantastic and they also won the Performance at the Summer Champs. In saying this Pippa Wonnacott has also been doing well with Albecyn Charlie Boy her new ride for this year. She won the Blue divison Int WH, 1st Restricted Int WH and 2nd in the Classic Sercurity Int WH and reserve in the championship which is just fantastic.
Also well done must go to the Robinsons with her new coloured Lyndell Jokers Minx qualified for HOYS at Midlands County as a coloured and did really well at the championship coming reserve supreme champion and champion novice WH.
Sam Goodman came 3rd in the Dersert Orchid on Rocky B 8th Red Division 3rd open 3rd pretty polly 3rd performance and 2nd Gold Cup so well done.
I must say we had a very good time at Jane Cooper’s where she carried out the area training for young judges. Many thanks must go to her it was a lovely time and a wonderful tea and cakes. Really hope we can do it again perhaps next year thank you.
Finally, just a personal note to thank everyone who sent flowers, cards and presents (including the BSPS) while I was in hospital and to the Wonnacotts, Stuarts and Nicki McGuire for coming to see me in hospital and being such good friends. I still have a fair way to go to get back to where I was before the accident but I am up and around my ponies and friends once more and that makes me very happy.
